I
decided last minute to enter the Open, what an experience. I was
on the
front row lined up with the best that Great Britain has to offer
i.e Matthew
Pinsent and James Cracknell. For Once I was in a race that I knew
I
couldn't win.
I
was a bit nervous but when I sat down and looked up at the crowd
my nerves
settled, there was so many faces I recognised and I knew I would
get through
it. For most of the race I was in 17th place, coming into the last
500m I
was struggling but as my ave. split was still 1.30 I knew I was
on for a sub
6 minute row. The last 200m is when I can usually put a sprint on
and grab
back a second but this time I was hanging on for dear life ! My
time was
5.59.9 which was my 11th sub 6 row. :)
I
then had 1 and 1/2 hours before doing my age cat race which I won
in 6.06.
I had a great day and claimed my First British IRC Gold, one of
many I hope!
See
you all later on-line
